In India, there are various curriculum bodies that govern school education system and are as follows:
- National Boards: It includes:
- CBSE- Central Board of Secondary Education was established in 1962 that gives affiliations to both public schools and private schools. There are currently about 15,167 schools that are affiliated under CBSE.
- CISCE- Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations is a private education board in India, which conducts the ICSE examinations for class X and ISC examinations for class XII, in India. About 1,900 schools are affiliated with the CISCE board.
- SGB- State Government Boards are regulated and supervised by the state organization for secondary and senior secondary education that focuses specifically on imparting knowledge about the state. In India, majority of schools are affiliated with the state government boards.
- NIOS- National Institute of Open Schooling is the board of education for distance education, under the Union Government of India.  Currently in India, there are 3,827 academic centers, 1,830 vocational centers and 690 accredited agencies under NIOS.
- International Boards: It includes:
- IBO- International Baccalaureate Organization International Schools in India offer three IB programs - primary years program (PYP), middle years program (MYP) and IB Diploma program (IBDP).
- CIE- Cambridge International Examinations that provides international qualifications, has affiliated 310 schools in India.
